The .AM ccTLD Turns 29 Years Old
August 22, 2023
The .AM country code top-level domain (ccTLD) domain will turn 29 years old on August 26, 2023.
The .AM ccTLD is the country code for the mountainous country of Armenia located in the South Caucasus near Mount Ararat.
The .AM ccTLD was first established on August 26, 1994 and is currently administered by the Internet Society Chapter of Armenia (ISOC.AM) which oversees AMNIC.net.
Since its inception, it has gone through many challenges and changes in regulations.
It is currently closing in on having 44,000 .AM ccTLDs registered in the coming future.
Presently, the .AM ccTLD, while holding its standards within the framework of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has become a domain extension used in many different categories from AM radio stations, domain hacks, additive manufacturing and more.
The country has started gaining traction as a major technology hub in the region with the establishment of Artificial intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), software, microchips, and the list goes on.
In its future, we hope to see more of the .AM ccTLD used in the increasing industry of AI and ML which we think .AM will be a great alternative to the other extension such as .AI, .IO, .ML, .Tech, .Technology, .CO, .IQ and .APP.
Don’t overlook this diamond in the rough country that holds a lot of potential both locally and to the international community. Especially with many uses of the .AM ccTLD extension.
Happy 29th Birthday .AM !
